John Zambri Guitar Studio

Lesson Information

Through lessons with me, you will learn how to play the guitar - and to UNDERSTAND what you are playing - through practical music theory.

This knowledge will show you how songs are related to each other. How you can segway from one song to the next, or jump into a brand new song without sheet music or spending hours trying to piece it out. You will see how songs you like are constructed to make them easier to learn... or write your own.

All the music you listen to is created from 12 notes. That's right, just 12 different notes. How can that be possible? I will show you!

You will learn how music theory works not just on the guitar, but on all instruments. You will also have the opportunity to learn the

fundamentals of piano, drums, bass and singing. At some point, you're going to interact with other musicians, and having a working knowledge of their instrument makes for a better environment, and makes you a better player.

Along with that, I will teach you guitar maintenance - how to restring, adjust and clean your guitar to keep it in good playing condition.

You will learn about amplifiers and other related equipment and how to adjust them to get different sounds. What's really the difference

between a tube amp and a solid state amp? How many watts do I need? Effects? Reverb, chorus, flange, phasers? I will teach you how to create the guitar sound you want.

I have a full band recording setup and can show you what's required to do some recording of your own - whether it's creating backup tracks to practice over, or recording a full band.

Lessons are $20.

Lessons are booked in 1 hour blocks. I usually teach about 45 minutes, but if we're on to something or you have questions, I don't want to say 'DING!' time's up, and cut you off.

If you've looked around, you will notice this is lower than normal. This is not a business for me, this is something I enjoy outside my normal job.

The first lesson is free and more of an interview. I want to learn about you, what brought you to the guitar, what are your goals?

I'll explain my teaching methods and present solutions for your playing goals.

Plan for 1 - 1/2 to 2 hours for this first session.

My schedule changes often, so I don't like using those automated scheduling apps. People need to shift days, I may have a band practice for a show, and sometimes computers don't help.

I typically teach Monday-Friday 4:30PM-10PM.

I like to keep weekends free, but if that's all you can do, Contact me and we'll figure something out.

I do not require you to prepay for the month. If you need to cancel, that's fine, we all get busy.

As long as it's not perpetual, there's no cancellation charge.
